Virginia Beach

uh-oh... Look who's behind the wheel!

On Thursday (of last week), we headed to Virginia Beach (about 2 hours from Richmond). The cars were packed full of beach stuff. We made it to our hotel in the early afternoon. We couldn't get into our rooms at first, but immediately changed clothes and enjoyed the indoor pool with a lazy river. We also later went to the beach for a little bit. Abbie was really funny at first because she wanted to sit in her little beach chair. She just wanted to play with the beach toys from her chair without getting all sandy. After a few minutes, she got down in that sand and loved it!! She was also hesitant in the ocean at first but then she quickly learned to love it and got to where she would get really upset when it was time for her to go in. Overall, we had a great time. It was really fun to rent the big bike one day. Our girls didn't last in the front for too long. Mimi and Abbie ended up getting out and walking back. We all had an ice cream break too during the bike ride which Sophie loved. One day while we were at the beach, the high temperature was only 80 degrees so it was too chilly to go to the beach! Mimi and Paw-paw Tom were sweet to put the kids to bed one night so that Leia, Matt & I could go and check out the nightlife around us, do some shopping, etc. It was fun to have the indoor pools though! Sophie started going under water a lot more and seems to be getting more and more comfortable in the water. We were all excited about that!!

We stayed in a room with an oceanview. One of the funniest quotes that I can remember from the week was Sophie saying, "The ocean is too loud. I can't hear Mickey Mouse on TV. Can you shut the door?" It was something like that. We had the door to the balcony open. I found that hilarious!!
