Water fun
Sophie had a grand time at Splash Zone this summer. We had season passes, so we went several times this summer. Her favorite thing to do was to go down the water slide with Mommy or Daddy. Sophie also has visited the beach a few times this summer. Paula and Sophie went to IOP (not to be confused with IHOP) beach to visit a long time family friend who was vacationing there. We've also been to Folly Beach a few times this summer. It's only 5 miles from us so it's super close. Sophie enjoys playing in the sand as much as the water at the beach. Perhaps the waves provide too much action.

Doughnuts, anyone?
Today, we took Sophie to the Krispy Kreme for the first time. Sophie (and her parents) was so excited that the hot now sign was lit. We introduced her to a lifetime love of ours-Krispy Kreme hot glazed doughnuts! She really enjoyed watching all of the doughnuts being made. She was a good sport about wearing the hat too. Sophie liked her doughnut but when we left she asked about breakfast. I guess it felt like dessert to her. Anyway, it was a lot of fun for all of us! They didn't seem to be as much of a temptation for her as they are for me.
Dance, Dance, Dance
Here's Sophie playing with her learning table one day last week. She doesn't play with it too much but she was really dancing one day. She loves music and she likes to dance to it. Sometimes, she'll make her mom and dad get up and dance with her. =) The Wiggles are still her favorite people to watch on video.
Some of Sophie's phrases are so funny. She talks all the time! She also has a good memory. Anyways, recently she gets up on the couch when she's playing with something or watching a video and she'll say, "Want covers?" She wants to know if you want to share the throw blanket with her to cover up. She'll keep saying it to you with this cute little innocent expression on her face. Even if you tell her, "no thank you, Sophie" she'll keep asking you until you say "OK" or if mommy says "no" then sometimes she'll move on to daddy if he's home. It is really funny but can also get a little annoying.

New Home

If everything works out (which it looks like it will), this will be our new home in a few weeks. It was built in 2005 so it is only a couple of years old. It is in McKay's Mill in Franklin. We should have a lot of space in this house and it has a nice yard in the back. The driveway and garage are in the back (you drive down an alley to get to it). Anyways, we'll try to send out more pictures later after we get settled. Hopefully, we'll be able to sell our house quickly as well to make things easier.
Girl of All Trades
Here's Sophie on the 4th of July modeling a fireman's hat, holding a syringe like she's a nurse, wearing her sunglasses and being patriotic. She's multi-talented! What can we say. Over the 4th, our family took a long drive to Nashville (we split it up over 2 days) and we spent the next 3 days almost continuously house-hunting. If you are offended that we didn't see you, don't be because we didn't really see anyone much other than immediate family. It wasn't a relaxing vacation or anything since we were house hunting but we were successful! We found a nice home in Franklin, in the Cool Springs area. I'll send out a picture or two soon. We'll be moving to Nashville permanently in about 3 weeks so we hope to get together with many of you after we get settled.
All of a sudden, Sophie's become a climber today. I don't know what is going on. It's been an interesting week. We got back from Nashville late Sunday night. Yesterday evening, I had fixed dinner. I was fixing Sophie's plate and before I realized it, she reached up and touched the hot pan. I felt terrible about it! It was the first time that she'd gotten burned. She burned her left hand. We iced it down, gave her some TLC, and then the idea of food made her forget about her boo-boo! =)

Having Fun with Mimi
Sophie "driving" the boat at the museum
Sophie painting with water
Sophie snapping beans and feeding her giraffe
Well, it's taken me a little while to get these pictures posted but better late than never, right? We've been very busy lately with VBS at our church and trying to get our house ready to go on the market. Plus, we are leaving town tomorrow. It's just been crazy! Anyway, about a week and a half ago, Matt's mom (Mimi) came down on the train to visit us. Then, a few days later, Matt's dad drove down and they helped us get some projects done around our house. They were a big help too! Thanks, Paw-paw Tom and Mimi! Anyway, the first couple of days it was rainy and so we couldn't go swimming or anything. We decided to go to the Children's Museum and Sophie had a great time! One day, Mimi was showing Sophie how to snap beans. Sophie treats the plastic giraffe shown in the picture just like a baby doll and carries him around. She was having more fun feeding the green beans to the giraffe which was quite hilarious. The last picture was taken a few weeks ago and I just thought it was too precious so I wanted to share it.
Have a Happy 4th everyone!

Sophie's big announcement
Well, in case you couldn't guess from Sophie's shirt, we are expecting our 2nd child. Our baby is due on January 24, 2008 and we are very excited! Paula is about 9 1/2 weeks pregnant and everything is going fine so far. We went to the doctor on Friday and they did an ultrasound. Sophie helped us give our news to the grandparents. She has enjoyed seeing her Vergne grandparents this week. By the way, we've told Sophie that there's a baby coming but there's just no way that she can understand that right now. =) I'm sure that after the baby is here, she will understand a whole lot better!
