Around the House
Abbie says, "Cheese" (just kidding)
Sophie's trying to be like her Daddy
Uh-oh. We better get our gates put up soon on the stairs!
Here are a few random pictures of our girls. Sophie & I really enjoyed playing with a new paint and water mixture last week that kind of bubbles up when you blow a straw into it and then you can use it to make neat pictures. We had more fun blowing bubbles with the solution than making pictures. I got the idea for this from the Publix Preschool Pals club online. An OT came up with it so it has to be good, right? OK, I must say, I'm a little biased. =) On Saturday, Sophie saw Matt with his tape measure and then she "borrowed" it to measure everything around the house. She was hamming it up for the camera. Matt and I had to put it away because we told her it's not really a toy. We're going to have to find her a kid-friendly version of Matt's tape measure. As you can see in the bottom picture, Abbie has become very mobile. She does not stay put anymore! She's 7 months old as of last week.
Play Dates and Zoo Fun
Sophie & Meredith

hanging out by the giraffes
We had a really good week overall last week. One day, Joshua & Meredith, some friends from church, were able to come over and play. It was nice for the kids and the adults. It's interesting when we do get our kids together because they are each about a year apart. =) Then, on Friday, Sophie & I were able to go to the pool and meet up with some friends while my mom stayed with Abbie so that she could get her morning nap. Sophie had a great time playing with Carley & Jessie even though the water was frigid!! We were among the few people at the neighborhood pool. Then, on Friday, Matt and I got some gardening done in the morning. That evening, we ventured out to the zoo for one of their special "Member Nights" where kids can ride the carousel for free, they have a bounce castle set up, lots of animal talks, etc. We met up with the Davis family, some friends from church, and overall had a good time but were worn out afterwards.

Abbie's 6 month Portraits
Abbie looks so much like Matt's baby pictures here.
Awww... too cute!
We had these pictures of Abbie made a couple of weeks ago at Portrait Innovations. We didn't order any of the last pose that's shown here. There were several pictures that were taken of Abbie however, where she was definitely "in action" showing off her crawling moves. It's hard to believe that she is almost 7 months old! I haven't done very well at giving these pictures out or showing them off so here they are!

Happy Birthday Daddy!
This past weekend was Matt's birthday and we were able to celebrate a couple of times. We love you, Daddy! Happy Birthday! Sorry that Sophie can't keep secrets anymore. =) (after we went shopping, Sophie told him what he was getting for his birthday) I guess I can't take her with me when I do my Christmas shopping this year.
Spending Time with Cousins
This past weekend, it was a real treat to have my cousin Craig's family in for a visit from Virginia. They have two girls and a baby boy who is only 3 weeks older than Abbie. We hadn't been able to meet their baby yet. Also, my Aunt Mary & Uncle Bill came in from Arkansas so we got to see them too. My cousin, Craig and his wife, Megan, have girls who are 6 (Karina), Ellie who's almost 3, and then Caleb who is 7 months old. It was really fun to see them and let the kids play together. My cousin, Chris and his wife, Jamie live in town and they have a daughter, Grace, who is almost 2. It was quite wild having all the little kids in one place but it was neat that they could play together.
Future Hair Stylist or Teacher?
Sophie practices her cutting skills (and no we do not allow her to use them to cut hair) =)
Here's just a couple of cute shots of Sophie. We had a great time overall with Mimi. She left this past Thursday. Since then, we have been enjoying the cooler weather and spending some time with family.

Williamson County Fair
Sophie rode the dragon ride and the little helicopter ride.
Matt and Mimi tried to convince Sophie to ride more rides, but once she saw the bluegrass concert that was going on at the end of the midway, she no longer wanted to ride the rides. We saw the Ward Family Bluegrass Band of Columbia, TN on the Bluegrass stage. Sophie sat, listened and clapped for 40 minutes. She didn't even want to go get treats from the midway. Who knew that a three-year-old would rather sit and listen to bluegrass than ride the carnival rides?
Mimi came down to visit us this week from Virginia. We've had a great time with her! Sophie got to go to a marionette puppet show (The Frog Prince) at the library, we ate at The Aquarium restaurant (but none of the pictures really turned out), we've gone shopping a couple of times, we've been swimming, and more. Sophie enjoyed going to The Aquarium restaurant and seeing the scuba diver feed all of the fish. Sophie & Mimi have been big buddies this week. She's had fun going and doing lots of stuff because our social lives slowed down a good bit after Abbie came along!
